To explain the picture a little:

Out at the 5 km tactical overlay marker on the left is a Retriever mining barge desperately trying to run away.

To the left of the 5 km marker at the top-right is the pod of the first Retriever pilot, represented by a distorted figure-of-eight and surrounded by a missile explosion. The Retriever is destroyed and now a wreck, represented by the yellow downwards-pointing arrow.

The target at the bottom of the screen is the Iteron hauler, the pod just above it being the indication that the pilot has ejected from his ship. At the moment of the picture, I haven't realised this so don't have his pod targeted.

The two diamonds are the jet-cans the miners were using to store the mined ore.

Heh, I love the line:
"more dangerous than 'dangerous'"
Classic.

And as for warping to the anomalies independently, I guess you just had to be there. I think everyone was rather fatalistic about the endeavor.

Pure inexperience, Btek. Thinking about it now, it would have made more sense for me to look for a single ship than sift through sites, but I am still very much learning out in w-space.

Thanks for offering suggestions, I'll find time to practice with the different modules and probes.

How come you were scanning for the grav site and not the Hulk itself? Did you only have a Core probe launcher fitted rather than Combat? Or was it quicker scanning by site than by ship or drone?

Sounds suspiciously like a failed gank of our own... I spotted a hulk, orca, retriever and covetor, scanned them, got a fleet ready, we were holding on the other side arguing about who was in the SB when they all warped back to pos, despite none of us bring in system except a covops.

Indeed. And when there is not a convenient manual, or even when knowledge relies on an antiquated system of 'help' pages, the UI ought to be sufficiently transparent to gracefully guide the user to learn.

There certainly have been improvements to the UI, and I am sure more will come with time.

I think the unease is more a matter of the conditioning you put yourself through in order to survive in null-sec or the equivalent. I know that I have become much more alert to the presence of any other ship that isn't in my corporation. But the unease isn't just that.

I think I am worried that I will get used to the apparent safety of high-sec and forget to revert back to normal when I return to w-space. The danger is that high-sec reconditions me to accept other ships as normal, and I drop my guard when travelling in w-space.

I think our recent pounding in C4 radar sites has shown we can rise to the challenge when necessary, but I understand your concerns about complacency.

I think it's good that we can be casual about raiding Sleeper enclaves, as it shows how much we consider w-space to be home. At the same time, we all still remain quite aware that we're in effective null-sec frontier space.

Ok, I can't hold it in any longer.

What is Liv doing in the final shot?
Is she trying to pee standing up?

The interface like the rest of EVE is predicated on the fact that you have already completely read and understood the manual.

Um... yeah... when I find one I'll send it on to you.
