I've tried that before myself and found it wired I couldn't.

The next expansion will focus on being able to orbit planets, to further the introduction of planetary interaction. As grand as it sounds, all that CCP are planning is to keep the orbit button greyed out and change the mouse-over message to 'you are already in geostationary orbit of the planet'.
