9-2 with the Splatterscope on Piranha Pit Tower Control is not too shabby! I also try to help the team out by keeping the turf inked our colour, particularly if my squidmates are mired in green.
I have to admit, I didn't realise we were so closing to winning, and so was trying to keep more turf inked instead of hitting the 'Nice!' button.
I'm on a winning streak in Ranked tonight, bagging a handful of wins in a row. As I quit the lobby for a brief pause, this gives Splatoon the opportunity to pit me against some S-rank players when I return. Okay then.
The battle goes better than expected, even when I accidentally activate my Splat Bomb Rush.
That was really short. Let's have a second battle: Piranha Pit Knockout in Tower Control
9-2 with the Splatterscope on Piranha Pit Tower Control is not too shabby! I also try to help the team out by keeping the turf inked our colour, particularly if my squidmates are mired in green.
Okay, maybe my early mojo is settling down a bit now, but that's okay. At least I make the most of a tight spot, after falling off the top of that conveyer belt. I think I'm not really used to moving with the tunnel vision of the scope.
It looks like a relatively comfortable battle for a while, until we have a mid-innings collapse. Can we take control of the tower back? With the OP Luna Blaster on our side, probably!
There was me thinking I'd not battled in Tower Control on Piranha Pit before, but of course I have. Maybe not with the Splatterscope, though, but definitely with the Tri-slosher. Still, they are quite different weapons that require very different strategies. I think I'm getting the hang of the Pit too.
If only the game allowed a second to hit the 'Nice!' button after the battle finished, rather than have to guess that you'll make that last one metre.
I don't think I can beat my previous Tower Control battle, but only because it was so amazing, and it is churlish to stop for the evening after one game. So here we go again.
Another good game, with some mistakes, some good splats, some impetuous charging ahead, some caution. That's all a bit vague, I suppose, and why I am recording videos of my battles.
I like the bit where two of us squid up a wall, where a Splash Wall gets thrown down. He's in front of it, but I luckily pop up behind it, and splat the two squids before getting splatted myself.
My first game of the evening, and it's a belter. Perhaps my best game of Tower Control, and one of my best Ranked battles so far, certainly with a charger. This is the battle that motivated me to make a 'Games of Fame' playlist on YouTube, and a game of fame tag for Tiger Ears.
I start the battle by getting a quad splat, splatting every inkling on the other team. In this case, they are all out of action at the same time too, albeit for a split-second. Maybe players don't like Moray Towers for this reason, but a quad splat with a charger is not easy!
For the rest of the battle, my aim may be far from perfect, but the good sight-lines and my improving gets me plenty of splats, and I keep myself squidding by being at least somewhat aware of my surroundings.
And, of course, my squidmates are great for sticking to the Tower so well. I'm sorry for that squid that dived to his doom as I re-took control, though. You can see him fly past at 3:36. Have a gfycat of his fall for purposes of hilarity.
Three chargers on our team in Rainmaker, three shooters and one blaster on the other.
Yeah, we're not going to do well in this battle.
To be fair, we work quite well as a team. I don't think the chargers hampered us too much, although they certainly don't work as well in close quarters as other weapons, and getting near the podium pushes you all in to close quarters.
Another relaxing game of Turf War to unwind after a string of losses in Rainmaker.
This time, I take my Splatterscope out for a ride on Camp Triggerfish, making use of the long lines-of-sight to ink plenty of turf and splat a handful of squids.
Perhaps a poor question to ask with a postitive splat ratio using the Splatterscope on Saltspray Rig. But I'm feeling outclassed in a string of games, and it's making me wonder if I'm just bad.
I'm sure it's a combination of things. Playing with/against better players, not making best use of my weapon, and being a bit too impetuous. I can work on these aspects of my game, and at least I think I use the landscape quite well.
If nothing else, at least this battle gets me an excellent shot at a flying squid. That was fun!
Not feeling particularly good at Rainmaker with the Dual Squelcher, it's probably not the best idea to switch to the Splatterscope. But whatever. If I want to improve my situational awareness, and get better at dealing with the relative ranges of weapons, it seems like a good plan, if a bit like jumping in at the deep end.
I get a crucial splat near the podium, but I can't tell if it's the Splat Bomb or my shot that does it. It doesn't really matter, as they pretty much overrun our base at that point.
There's not much you can do when the Rainmaker's shield bursts next to the podium as an Inkstrike engulfs it.
